A good day out for the U12 boys

Match report from Lee Robinson

On a cold morning in Leeds the boys showed that they wanted to go into the Christmas break with their heads held high.

The matches began for them with local rivals Chapeltown and they showed moments of working as a team and there were hopes for things to come. The match finished honours evens and was a fair result.

Leeds Adel were the next opponents and the match finished goalless, but there were positives to take out of their performance as they continued to pass the ball and work as a team.

They took their confidence in each other, into their third match, against a strong York team. Good passing and a high work rate resulted in them as worthy 2-0 winners.

Not content with this, they pushed on, and showed further great confidence in each other, and some great passing resulted in them taking apart a good Slazengers team 3-0.

Unfortunately they seemed to run out of steam for their last match and they slipped back to some of their old ways of solo runs, not working back, and limited passing, and it showed as they went down. 3-1.

On the whole it was a great team performance and they can all be proud of their performance and hard work. It has been very pleasing to see how quickly, and comfortably, Joshua Watts has settled into the team. If they push on in the New Year with the promising signs of today, they will soon be moving up out of this league.

Results:
Chapeltown 1-1 Rotherham
Leeds Adel 0-0 Rotherham
Rotherham 2-0 York
Slazengers 0-3 Rotherham
Rotherham 1-3 Wakefield
