Match report by: Sam Bacon
Rotherham first team travelled away to Lincoln on Sunday to play a rearranged game. With a few regular players unavailable 3 2nd team players moved up to help out.
Lincoln started the game bright and this showed with a counter attack which lead to a goal within the first 5 minutes. Rotherham took 10 minutes to get into the game but then began to settle and used the possession they got to get a goal soon after. Some good attacks followed for the away side but they could not find a second goal. Lincoln then got the ball up field and found a gap at the back post and once again took the lead. The back 4 of Jonny Holt, Fraser Andrews
, Nick Wilson
and Sam Bacon
along with keeper Steve Rimmington kept Lincoln at bay for the rest of the half. Just before half time, a run of short corners were not converted, however efforts from Sam Bacon
and Martin Marshall were close.
The second half started with a lot of possession for Lincoln who went and scored a 3rd goal early to put them 3-1 up. This seemed to spur the Rotherham side into creating chances. There was good work through the midfield with attacks coming from Marshall, Rob Owen, James Thomas
, Fraser Henderson and Dave Watson all finding the forwards in good positions. It wasnt until the last 10 minutes that Rotherham found gaps and scored a short corner, before another goal soon after. This levelled the game at 3-3 with 5 minutes to go and this was then changed to 4-3 to Rotherham as a great run from Marshall found James Norton at the back post for a tap into the net.
Not a great performance for the travelling Rotherham but another 3 points never the less, next week they host Huddersfield at Aurora in the final game of the season.
