RHC Men's 3rd team entertained Wakefield 4th team at Aurora, After losing 4-0 to the visitors earlier in the season, rotherham were confident that they would get the win this time round.
Rotherham settled quickly into the game, controlling the game pace and keeping possesion of the ball right from the start. A composed back four of A Williamson, J Bray, O Deroeck and T Austen linked well with the midfield trio: M Cuff, M Green and T Roe to keep Wakefield pinned in their half giving the visitors no chance of building an attack.
Efforts were rewarded early on as good play by Cuff, Williamson and A Bray down the right saw the ball crossed in at pace for Young J Hartley to make delegate touch deflecting the ball passed the Wakefield keeper. A Bray and D Brereton went close on several attempts and Rotherham could have been more than 1-0 up at half time.
The second half was very similar with Rotherham setting up camp in the midfield keeping the pressure on wakefield. A Bray obviously glad to be back playing after injury, showed his match fitness returning, constantly a threat on the right hand side of attack.
Rotherham were caught on the counter attack midway through the second half, a rare opportunity for the visitors a shot hitting the post and falling kindly for the wakefield forward to nudge the ball into the net. 1-1.
Rotherham not wanting to let the full points quoter pass them by, quickly regained their lead when a string of attacks resulted in a short corner. M Green drilled the ball low and hard and the diving keeper was unable to prevent the inevitable. 2-1 to rotherham.
Rotherham then showed great composure keeping hold of the ball and playing down the remaining time to protect the lead and seal the much needed 3 points.
A well deserved man of the match went to A Bray for a solid all round performance.
