Efforts were rewarded early on as good play by Cuff, Williamson and A Bray down the right saw the ball crossed in at pace for Young J Hartley to make delegate touch deflecting the ball passed the Wakefield keeper. A Bray and D Brereton went close on several attempts and Rotherham could have been more than 1-0 up at half time.

Rotherham were caught on the counter attack midway through the second half, a rare opportunity for the visitors a shot hitting the post and falling kindly for the wakefield forward to nudge the ball into the net. 1-1.
Rotherham not wanting to let the full points quoter pass them by, quickly regained their lead when a string of attacks resulted in a short corner. M Green drilled the ball low and hard and the diving keeper was unable to prevent the inevitable. 2-1 to rotherham.
