Rotherham 4th team lost their first cup game in three years to Slazenger 3rds on Saturday when then were beaten 6 – 1.

Slazenger fielded a strong competent side who outplayed Rotherham in every part of the pitch. Despite this Rotherham did at times show composure on the ball and played good passing hockey on rare occasions.

Dan Flowers stepping in to central defence for the first time this season brought his experience to the side but despite this Rotherham defence was overwhelmed time and again by a mobile skilful Slazenger side.

A rare appearance by Martin Marshall in the 4ths was welcome when his skilfully driven goal from a Chris Norton pass proved to be the only highlight of the Rotherham game. Dan Flower was rightly awarded the Rotherham Man of the Match for his performance in defence.

The result reflected the performance of the teams.
