THE EVERARDS PREMIER DIVISION completed a full fixture list thanks to the last minute cooperation of club and league officials. Hats off to BARLESTONE ST GILES and COTTESMORE AMATEURS who managed to reverse their fixture after the Cottesmore facility was subject to an electrical failure at Roques Park on Thursday evening, and with the co-operation of all, they were able to turn out at Barton Road, where Barlestone gained reward for their efforts with a 1st home win of the season, 1-0, after Craig Leonard’s diving header, 5 minutes before the break, provided the lone 1st half goal winner to move them 3 places up the table and out of the bottom 3. However it left Cottesmore in trouble, especially after bottom placed ST ANDREWS posted their 1st away win of the season, to close within a point of the Amateurs, with 4 games in hand. The Andrews added to the woes of champions ALLEXTON & NEW PARKS after Danny Gallagher and Tom Marriott hit the 2nd half winners in their 0-2 victory. At the top of the table despite all the comings and goings at SAFFRON DYNAMO they fought back at home to retain top spot, from the Friar Lane & Epworth, with a 2-1 defeat of KIRBY MUXLOE RES. Lynford Harris gave the visitors an half time lead but Kieran Neat restored parity during the 2nd half before an OG gave Saffron the 3 points and maintained their unbeaten home record. FRIAR LANE & EPWORTH kept up the chase with a 3-0 defeat of GNG after a brace from Tom Payne added to by Jake Wain plus their 4th clean sheet turned a 2-0 half time advantage into their 6th home win. MELTON MOWBRAY put a halt to EARL SHILTON ALBION’s recent good form of 7 without defeat, but had to wait until the 2nd half to find that extra gear. Melton led 1-0 at the break and finished with goals from Aiden Black-3, Arron Black and Tom Cooper. The 2nd half reply from Jordan Armstrong proved to be just a consolation for the Albion. However, climbing slowly up the table, unbeaten SILEBY TOWN made it 10 wins on the spin, to stand 4 points off the pace with 3 games in hand, after their 2-3 away win at fellow championship contenders CATERPILLAR. They stormed into a 0-2 half time lead with Marc Tinsley and Leo Coggan on the score sheet and went 0-3 up before Tom Smith and Sam Rouse replied for the hosts in the last 5 minutes to make the score line look respectable. BIRSTALL UTD held onto a top 6 spot with a 2-3 victory, their 1st win in 4 starts, at DUNTON & BROUGHTON RANGERS after Arron Headley-2 and Jamie Chambers initially gave them a 1-2 half time lead. Dunton, without a point from their 5 starts, replied in each half through Luke Goddard and an OG. ROTHLEY IMPS ended a barren spell of 2 with a 2-1 defeat of HOUGHTON RANGERS but they had to come from behind after Harry Almond had made the break through to give the visitors an half time lead. But goals from Luke Green and a winner from Leon Cole ensured the Rangers went away empty handed and BLABY & WHETSTONE ATH RES let 2 valuable points slip when they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by DESFORD. Daz Wheeler broke through for Blaby within 2 minutes of the start but Ellis Benjamin restored parity almost immediately and thats how it stayed until Chris Anastasi restored the Blaby lead before the break. In similar fashion to the first half Benjamin restored parity within a minute of the restart but neither side could add any further goals and Blaby have to be happy to sit 15 points off the pace but with 5 games in hand whereas Desford have to work harder to get away from the lower regions of the table
