Hegians come 2nd in Mud Wrestle
By Jim Malia
Hegians welcomed Driffield to the "Home of Rugby" yesterday and a cracking match was played which defied the conditions which were rather heavy underfoot. A lung busting, bruising affair ensued with the high quality of rugby on show a credit to all 30 players who didn't even have the luxury of substitutes to give the forwards the odd breather. The final score line of 17-12 to the visitors was a tad unfortunate on the Hegians lads who were attacking the Driffield line as referee Mr Moyes blew for full time. 2 good tries from Joe & Will levelled affairs on the hour mark but Driffield sealed the win with a well worked try from there huge left winger, despite a valiant despairing tackle from Jack on the try line.
Final score Hegians 12 - Driffield 17. Well done to the whole Hegians team whose commitment on the day was tremendous. Keep playing with that spirit and commitment and we will win our fair share.
PS - Congratulations to Ewan who made his Yorkshire debut yesterday v Durham. A well deserved achievement.
