History - History 1

The academic year of 1983-84 saw the conception of the first Ladies’ rugby team in Scotland, with a team forming at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College in Edinburgh. After hearing that their counterparts at Dublin Veterinary School already had a team, they decided to put together a team as well. In 1983, 46 girls signed up as initially interested in a women’s rugby club. These were excellent numbers for a sport that hadn’t been played by women before in Scotland.
