From Pete Batley:
The early minutes of the game saw both sides locked in an arm wrestle for territory. The deadlock was broken by the Gunners taking the 2 points from a penalty in front of the sticks.
The Sappers then took the initiative by scoring in the corner.
The next 60 minutes saw a game littered with hard running and fierce tackling with both sides sharing possession and territory. The score "yoyo-ing" back and forth.
The last 10 saw the Sappers wrestle control and move more than a converted try ahead. A little indiscipline left the Sappers with just 11 men for the final stages but Clever play and good game management from the Sapper team Captain Rob Bussey saw the game out and left the Woolwhich Cup where it belongs; in the Sapper locker.
