League Round-Up – Midlands 3 East (South) – Week 9
After a disjointed showing in the first half Saints wrapped up the sixth successive league victory complete with bonus point with an excellent comeback against a useful Stewarts & Lloyds side who took two bonus points from the game which ended 32-26. Northampton BBOB kept up their winning ways with a 24-0 home victory over Daventry who in turn slip to fifth, BBOB have now racked up 263 points in their five home league games and have yet to concede. Biggleswade remain in second have recording a narrow 13-5 win at Northampton Casuals who are hovering just above the relegation zone. Stamford moved back into fourth place with a comfortable 38-5 victory over struggling Brackley who are the only team in the league yet to pick up any bonus points. Rushden & Higham recorded a good victory away to Deepings 22-5 in the mid table battle which closes the gap between the top and lower half of the league. Queens won the Bedford derby and also recorded their first victory of the season in a 31-13 home win over Swifts but still remain at the foot of the table.
Next week sees Saints travel to Bedford Swifts who sit one place and one point above the relegation zone but have picked up both their wins at home against Brackley and Stamford. Elsewhere fourth placed Stamford travel to second placed Biggleswade whilst fifth placed Daventry entertain Northampton Casuals. Deepings host league leaders Northampton BBOB whilst the remaining game will see the bottom teams battle it out when Brackley entertain Queens.
League Round-Up – Warwickshire One
Saints slipped to their third defeat of the season when they lost 18-17 at Kenilworth. Both Newbold and Old Laurentians picked up walkover victories against Earlsdon and Stratford respectively. This now sees the four teams from Rugby & District in the top four places with OLs currently top, Broadstreet 3rds are eight points adrift but have two games in hand (their result from this weeks game against Nuneaton OE is not yet know) Newbold sit in third with Saints just a point behind in fourth but with a game in hand. This week Saints entertain Nuneaton Old Eds who have lost both their away games and conceded 190 in the process but have won both games at home including a 56-53 victory against Kenilworth. OL’s have the bye this week so Broadstreet will have the chance to close they gap if they win at Silhillians. Earlsdon entertain Kenilworth and bottom club Stratford host Newbold.
League Round-Up – Warwickshire Four
For the first time this season Saints were not able to field a side and were forced to concede the points to Barker Butts. Keresley also conceded their game against leaders Shipston whilst second place Pinley had a comfortable 45-12 win over Coventry Welsh. Bedworth continued their march up the league with a resounding 43-0 home win against Alcester and Dunlop moved off the bottom of the league with a 5-0 win against Berkswell & Balsall who slip to the foot of the table. Just two points separate the bottom five sides with Saints hovering just above the relegation places on points difference. Shipston remain top a point ahead of Pinley. This week the leaders Shipston entertain a resurgent Bedworth whilst Pinley travel to Keresley and Barkers travel to Coventry Welsh. The bottom four sides all face each other with Saints entertaining bottom club Berkswell and Alcester travel to Dunlop.
