It all change at Wyverns with Lewy Walsh and Pornstar taking over as first team captains, with Flicker taking charge of the twos. After a revamp of the Esses Leagues Wyverns ones find themselves in Merit League division 4 along with other first teams from around Essex. With experienced Essex league sides like Stanford and Kings Cross Steelers, Wyverns are in for a tough season ahead. The twos remain in Merit League division 8 along side many of the teams they played last season.

Wyverns first team kick off the league campaign at home to old rivals Ongar. The two sides have not meet since Wyverns were beaten in a tight Merit League semi final in what were the worst conditions many have ever played in. Joint skippers Walsh and Pornstar are able to pick a strong side for the opening fixture. There are first team starts for new boys Picky Dave, Lee and Callum. Wyverns have Bruce back in the front row after spending much of last season injured. Old first team skipper Mat Hemmings returns to the blindside.
