Rushall Olympic maintained their 100% pre-season record following a comfortable 3-1 success at neighbours Boldmere St Michaels.
An excellent first half display from the Pics saw them coast into a commanding three-goal lead at Church Road, taking the lead as early as the seventh minute through Ahmed Obeng after the impressive Steve Abbott had rattled the upright and latched on to the rebound to feed the front runner.
Olympic doubled their advantage in the 25th minute when Abbott was again the provider, this time setting-up Michael Clarke for a clinical finish, after combining well with Obeng once more.
After Kyle Brady and Louis Keenan had both rattled the Boldmere woodwork twice in two minutes just prior to the half hour mark, Rushall’s third goal arrived in the 31st minute when a raking pass from distance by Aaron Forde found Clarke who rapidly turned and fired an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner.
A series of second half substitutions ultimately affected Rushall’s rhythm and despite still enjoying the lion’s share of possession they couldn’t quite add to their tally. However, at the other end a defensive error presented the Mikes with a rare attacking move that they capitalised upon on 66 minutes when one of their replacements homed in on goal and drilled a fine finish beyond Chris Gemmell into the top corner.
