KITCHING LOOKING TO KICK-ON

Boss hoping to beat the elements - and Frickley - this weekend...

WEATHER-permitting, The Pics are back on home soil this weekend as we play host to Frickley Athletic.

“It was disappointing that last Saturday’s game fell victim of the weather,” said manager, Neil Kitching. “We’d managed to find a bit of form and wanted to kick-on with matches, but the elements beat us on this occasion.

“It’s one of those things and most clubs found themselves in the same situation, but we had a positive training session on Tuesday and are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will be kind over these next few days.

“The groundsman did a lot of work on the pitch last weekend and we’ve kept off it throughout the week, so we’ve done all we can to give it the best possible chance. We’re now in the hands of the Gods as to how bad the weather will be.

“Our home form has been pretty good, so we will be looking to build on that against a Frickley Athletic side that, despite being in the lower half of the table, are established at this level.

“They are a decent outfit and it was a tough encounter at their place earlier in the season where we had to work hard for a point from a goalless draw.

“The one thing we have learned this season is that you have to work extremely hard for every point at this level and Saturday will be no different, but we are prepared to roll our sleeves up and add to our points tally.”
