Rushall Olympic cruised to a comfortable 3-0 success following their long haul trip to lowly Spalding United in a contest where wide man Alex Melbourne turned in a man of the match display for the Pics by having an assist in all three the goals.
The visitors broke the deadlock on seven minutes when Melbourne broke down the right and provided a pin-point centre that ANTHONY MAGUIRE clinically headed inside the near post as the midfielder beat his marker to the ball.
Eight minutes later and Rushall deservedly double their advantage when Melbourne again turned provider from the right flank with a slide rule pass that picked out CHRIS MORRIS who rifled home with aplomb from a tight angle.
The first period saw Olympic continue to dominate but right on the stroke of half-time ‘keeper Chris Gemmell was forced into a great save to deny the Tulips’ Gareth Pritchard as the forward drove through a crowded goal mouth.
The second half continued very much in the same vein as the first with the visitors very much the ascendancy. However, the Pics had just one further goal to show for the excellent efforts when just before the hour mark Morris’ probing run ended with the ball coming back out to that man MELBOURNE whose shot beat the Spalding custodian.
