PICS SNAP UP MARK BRIGGS

Rushall Olympic have tonight completed the signing of former Notts County, Shrewsbury Town and AFC Telford United midfielder MARK BRIGGS.

The Express & Star reported that the former West Bromwich Albion youngster, who has had spells playing in America and Denmark, will fill the gap created by Danny Bragoli's move to Hinckley United.

The 29-year-old had most recently been playing for Ryman Premier League side Tooting & Mitcham but the Wolverhampton-born playmaker wants to return to his roots. Prior to that he had featured for Mosta FC in the Maltese First Division.

"He should be a good signing for us," said Pics boss Neil Kitching. "One or two things happened at Tooting and he was moving back up here and we have managed to get him.

"He's more of a ball player than a ball winner. He's very good on the ball and passes it simple. He will open up doors for us to get strikers away, which is what we need.

"We're always looking to bring in players who are better than what we've got. For us it's about strengthening and getting up to the level we need to be at."

Olympic travel to Matlock Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League tomorrow but, with freezing conditions forecast, the game could be in doubt.

Mitchell Tolley and Matt Lewis are available again after suspension and work commitments respectively forced them to miss last Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Marine.

Gary Fitzpatrick and Sean Platt return after a bout of flu but illness will keep Alex Melbourne out alongside injury victims Grant Beckett, Louis Keenan and Nick Amos.
