Ruthin RFC - Mini's & Juniors

U7s Vs Lymm Match Report

by Richard Lewis

Brilliant game, very close with some first class Tag Rugby from both sides.

Lymm travelled to Ruthin today, weather cold'ish, but dry and pitches in good shape.

Ruthin started the first game a little slow and Lymm took full advantage with some rapid scoring and some excellent running. Coach Steffans half time team talk worked wonders and Ruthin started the second half firing on all cylinders.

The entire team worked extremely hard for each other. Gethin did some spectacular diving tags and scored some wonderful tries. Alice grabbed 3 tags in a row at one stage and made some impressive runs. Robert stopped Lymm scoring on a number of occassions and worked really hard. Daniel did some lovely runs up the wing and Lymm struggled to stop him. Matthew managed some important tags, stopping Lymm in their tracks. Herbie made some excellent passes under pressure. Sam supported his team mates really well and did some very good passing. Oliver finished off an excellent team try and also managed 3 x tags in a single play and was awarded the best effort medal.

The most impressive points today were:-

1. Ruthin reached 6 tags on at least two occassions. (this was one of the challenges coach Steffan set at the start of the game)

2. Some of the passing and movement ending up in a Ruthin try was so good to watch and it was clear to see all the effort on the training ground being put to good use.

3. Best of all was the effort and determination from all players from start to the end. The team is bonding really well together and at last we are seeing the team performance being greater than the sum of its individual players. (the sign of a great team!)

Thankyou everybody for all your efforts today and you can be very proud of that performance. Just remember, Lymm is a big club and they can field 3 x under 7's teams, and probably bought some of their best players today, so to play like we did was just brilliant.

Finally, big thanks on behalf of the team to Herbies and Sions mums for helping out in the kitchen today. We only appear to have 3 x confirmed fixtures left this season, therefore would be grateful if somebody else could step forward for the next home game, particularly as Sarah has helped at least twice now.

Next week the fixture is 'to be confirmed' so I will let you know during the week what is happening.

Richard
