Bryan Lewis has announced his retirement from the committee at Ruthin Town FC. Bryan who first joined the committee in 1981 has called it a day after serving the club for 33 years. Chairman Brian Griffiths said, “Bryan has been with this club through thick and thin. He was secretary here for many years, certainly during most of my playing days, and was our representative on the Cymru Alliance and is a life member of that Committee, he is already a life member of our club and his experience will be sorely missed.”

The club will be holding a game between ex player in his honour on Friday evening 4th July. Secretary Bryn Jones said, “We have moved the pitch in order to develop the ground and this will be an ideal opportunity to try it out and give Bryan a send off he deserves. He’s been a great servant to the club and I’m sure many ex-players will want to thank him personally for his commitment over the years. I know he still plans to come down and watch and will no doubt continue shouting at referees for a long time yet.”

The club have already contacted a number of ex managers and the plan is for a couple of them to manager each team made up of ex players. First team Assistant Manager Huw Price will be co-ordinating the playing side of the event. “I won’t be able to contact everyone so I’m asking players who wish to turn out on the evening to either text or e mail me their availability by Friday June 27th. This will give the two management teams a chance to pick their teams. We may have to limit it to the under 50’s and if we get a ridiculous amount of players we’ll have to do it on a first come first served basis.” He said. “We would obviously love everyone to come and watch and possibly enjoy a few beers in the bar after.”

The message from the club to its ex players is don’t be bashful register your availability now. We want you all to come.
