Ruthin Town Reserves 4 Flint Town Reserves 1

A poor start by the reserves saw Flint take an early lead with a low shot which went under Chris Hardy in the Ruthin goal. Ruthin’s sluggish start continued until they were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes with a foul on Wil Owen as he broke into the Flint box. Dave Finney converting.

The second goal came shortly afterwards when Connor Lloyd played a great through ball for Wil Owen who attacked the Flint defence and cut the ball back for Rhys Rowlands to finish. Ruthin had finally woken up and it was that man Wil Owen again who scored their third, beating his man and cooly slotting the ball past the keeper.

Ruthin came out in the second half with purpose, pressing high and preventing Flint any time or space. It was Tomos Tryfan Jones who scored their fourth goal with a calm finish on 65 minutes, picking up an injury as he did so. At 4-1 Ruthin were in a comfortable position and whilst they could have had one or two more goals manager Chris Hardy was happy with the afternoon’s work.
Ruthin Town Reserves have now scored four or more goals in all nine of their games so far, winning all of them.
