Ruthin beat Glan Conwy in the Welsh Trophy to progress to the 5th Round.

Rich Parry, Adam Davies and Mathew Davies started in the only changes from the loss at Chirk a week earlier.

It was an evenly contested first half with neither side having any clear chances. The closest anyone came to breaking the deadlock was Glan Conwy's Dan Lloyd who found space down the left and chipped the ball over Rich Parry towards the Ruthin goal, but for the second time in the last two games, Elystan Hughes was on hand to clear off the line.

The second half saw Ruthin take control and began to create more chances. They came close to opening the scoring when Liam Jones' corner was headed on by Justin Harden and Elliot Slade saw his attempt deflected wide.

Against the run of play Glan Conwy had the chance to take the lead when there winger was brought down in the box by Rich Parry. The number 10 stepped up but Rich made amends and saved the spot kick.

Kevin Evans and Callum Lloyd were brought on half way through the second half as Ruthin went in search of a winner, and not long afterwards they took the lead, a corner was caught and then dropped by the visiting goalkeeper under pressure from Jordan MacCarter and Justin Harden was free to strike past the defenders on the line. 1-0

Garmon Hafal and Jordan MacCarter had chances to extend the lead but it was Chris Williams who doubled Ruthin's advantage with 10 minutes to go when a free kick found him at the back post and he struck it back across goal into the bottom corner of the net. 2-0

Glan Conwy battled to the end and pulled a goal back in the last few minutes when there centre half found himself free from a set piece, his header was saved well by Rich Parry but he put in the rebound to make it 2-1.

Ruthin held on to progress and overall they edged a well battled cup tie.
