RHC helps run a Primary Schools sports festival!

On Wednesday, Anne Pollock led a Rutland Hockey Club coaching team at a Primary Schools Olympic sports festival hosted by Uppingham Community College.

As well as hockey, sports like handball and fencing were on offer, with each group rotating round so everyone could try everything.

With over a hundred Year 6 students from the Uppingham cluster of primaries attending, the team were able to spread the word about the Club, and give lots of kids the opportunity to try their hand at hockey for the very first time.

After the day, Anne said ‘all of the kids seemed to have a great time, and it was amazing to see some of them get to grips with a stick and ball in such a short space of time. Hopefully this will have whet their appetite and they’ll be keen to come along and join in with one of our junior Club sessions.’

Rutland Juniors play in Stamford on a Monday and Friday nights, with the youngest age-group meeting from 6-7.30pm. The term runs until mid-July – if anyone is interested in attending please get in touch via the website contact form.

The Club extends thanks to Anne, Richard Pollock, Alex Hammant, Owen Evans and Dave Richardson, as well as the young leaders from UCC.
