Another day off rugby

Rye 1XV face a third fixtureless Saturday out of four

Rye were due to host Newick in a Sussex Shield quarter final , but the match has been postponed because the oppositions London and SE Junior Vase second round tie at home to Farnborough takes precedence.

Rye Chairman Tony Pierce said"Another week without a game and this stop/start business is doing us no favours at all. Even getting a friendly game is virtually impossible and its a complete bore really."

As soon as people realise that there is no game at the weekend, training seems to drop off. Everybody's got a lot to do and when there isn't a game, you think you think, you can get on and do something else.

Last weeks 44-322 defeat to Newick in Sussex one, was Rye first and only outig since the come from behind 29-26 victory over Seaford on the 8th of october.

The situation does at least look a little brighter after this weekend because Rye are scheduled to have league games on November 12th, November 19th, December3rd and December 10th.

Although it's been a frustrating start to the season for the first team, the seconds are going great guns having won all six of their competitive fixtures so far.
