Medical equipment which can save the lives of people suffering a cardiac arrest has now been installed at Saffron Walden Rugby Football Club thanks to

The club was one a number of local causes which benefitted from funds raised by the 8 Day Weekend, a carnival which is organised by the Saffron Walden Round Table every three years.
The Round Table donated £1,400 to the club which was used to buy a defibrillator which can be used in cases of cardiac arrest.

Ian McKernan, Chairman of Saffron Walden Rugby Football Club said : “This particular defib was chosen because it is suitable for small children to grown adults. We have already been asked twice this season, by first aiders, for the defib, as a precaution whilst an injured player is being treated.
We are now safe in the knowledge that should the equipment be required, it is at hand.”

According to the British Heart Foundation, following a cardiac arrest every minute without CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation reduces someone's chance of survival by 10 per cent.

Formed in 1958, Saffron Walden Round Table is a fundraising organisation aimed at young men between 18 and 45.
