SWRFC U15's vs Cambridge RFC U15's
Outstanding performance from the U15's in the autumn sunshine
What a fantastic day for rugby. All of the U15's arrived and from the very start looked like they were here to do a job! The pre-game preparation was excellent, jelly babies consumed, water taken on and boots adorned. Running the same warm up that we use for the 1st XV the lads built in accuracy, confidence and understanding.
Kick off saw some big tackles and early exchanges in the middle of the field, both teams looked like they were up for an epic encounter. After a few minutes and lots of phases the SW lads edged into the Cambridge 22, several excellent forward phases created gaps in the midfield and allowed us over the line for our first try. For the remainder of the first half we played some breathtaking rugby and scored a further 3 unanswered tries and 3 conversions, 26 - 0 at half time!
Changes to the team were made at half time, but this did not stop the flow of excellent attacking rugby and seriously impressive defence, we scored an additional 3 tries and 2 conversions in this period to bring the score up to 45 - 0 with 6 minutes left on the clock. Huge praise has to be given to the Cambridge lads who never gave up and pushed hard right to the end. They managed to put together a fantastic set of phases, winning the gain line battle and bullying themselves over the line for a well worked try, 45 - 5 was the final score.
Thanks go to Cambridge for being great hosts, a nice squad and for a never give up attitude on the field.
Well done to all involved, another match performed with the core values of rugby being practiced throughout.
