More ups and downs than Alton Towers in 2017

As the clock ticks towards the Midnight hour we can reflect upon a successful, exciting, barmy, stressful (add any further comments and they'd apply) 2017 which has seen:-

Despite starting the calendar year in the bottom 3 and swimming upstream.

Establishing a fantastic, challenging standard squad with our driven young Manager - to then see both slip away for various reasons, with Luke Douglas being the latest to depart to fellow WNL Prem side Buckley Town.

Erection of a 50 seater stand and ground improvements at Sandy Lane, thanks in main to the wonderful generous Sponsorship of Robbie Gibbons at Abbi Access (your other sign is going up this week mate!)

Continued development & growth of our Junior Soccer Stars led by Marc's drive and ambition to harbour the right environment for our kids.

Reaching the JD Welsh Cup 2nd Round where we ultimately went down in a glamour tie at neighbours Airbus Broughton having made a good account of ourselves

The First Team finish 2017 only 1 point off leaders Brickfield Rangers.

I can sit here writing this extremely proud of all involved at our Club. I can't imagine better junior coaches and leaders for the next generations to learn and interact with, as we continue to make great strides. Now you won't see us plastering our little stars at this club and that club all over social media, it's just not our style, you can rest assured though your kids are having fun, learning the right football and social skills, and also successfully getting opportunities, with the right people guiding them. I tip my hat to you all.

To the partner in crime Marc - the backroom team of Dutt, Torgs, Paul, Andy and Greggsy I can honestly say make this club such an enjoyable place to be at. We truly are a team, and everyone is treated that way. Thank you for what you have done over this past year, and I look forward to the continuing development and success together.

I'd also like to thank the backroom, backroom staff in the WAGS Joanne & Ceri. Local football heroes don't come any bigger with what these 2 have to put up with from Marc & I - we will one day reward you for it and retire!

I'll save a last thank you for the calendar year in 2 parts. Part 1 to the Club's best player - Jake Gibbons. You don't appreciate how much you have done for the club, and how you'll always have a special place with Marc & I, and it's my sincerest hope we see you back with us after a break in 2018 to contribute in the many ways you still can.

But the final part has to go to a special group who stuck with us, pushed themselves and fought for everything we hope to stand for. Money can't buy you love is our motto - and Mike Eddie, Jew, the Burgess brothers, Choc, Rhys, Swinny, Johno, Shauny, Ry Faz, Dylan, Jacko, Damage, Meaks and Cam you will always be etched in my memory for the parts you have played in these last few months when we were being written off and being let down on what felt like a daily basis. With the new boys such as Tom & JP etc, here's to a bigger and better 2018 for the Town Family.

Happy New Year - may you, your families, and any supporters we have out there have a great night!

Daz x
