SALTS U17 9 - 1 RASTRICK
Tougher test than before . . .
The visitors were much stronger and organised from when we last played them but in the end the U17s ran out comfortable winners. Salts dominated throughout but Rastrick’s defence showed great resolve to keep the ball out. In fact it was Rastrick who opened the scoring when they won a corner with their first real foray into the Salts half and showed real determination to force the ball home.
Normal service was resumed soon after when Luke Kelly struck to draw us level. Then a powerful individual run and finish from Nathan Hirst put Salts in front. Alex Clark came on and set up Nat Wilson Fleming for the third but unfortunately injured himself in the process and when straight back off again. Tom Simpson scored from Nat’s pass and just before the break Matt Matthew Padgett headed home Luke’s corner.
After the half, Nathan set up Karl Harris to score and then Nat scored his second from Luke’s pass. Tom Sorren grabbed a well deserved goal and finally Tom Simpson wrapped up the scoring after being set up by Will King.
While Cain Thomas Spencer, Jake Brown and David Roper had been solid throughout in the centre of defence it took a great goal line clearance from Jamie Mitchell to prevent Rastrick from adding to the score. Finlay King came off after a fine stint and was replaced by Matthew Morton who continued the midfield dominance to the final whistle
