The Sandown & Shanklin return to action this week, following a two week gap since their last fixture. The last time out the 2nd XV travelled to Alton RFC with 9 men, but still managed to come away with the spoils, in an impressive 7 - 67 victory. 2nd XV Captain Liam Little, is hopeful ahead of the game against Chineham this Saturday.
"We have been in great form, and despite the point that we have only played four games, we are still undefeated in those games that we have played. Add to that the two walk-overs we have received, and it a 6 game winning streak. However, we would much rather be playing the games that have been conceded to us, as it helps build momentum and maintain playing numbers for us week in, week out.
There is a great core of players at the moment, the likes of Dan Sayers who tore up trees last time out, by scoring six tries, is now getting recognition from the 1st XV. Likewise the consistent performances from Harry Fyffe, George Law and Zac Davies are the foundation in which this team is currently built, and fair play to the lads for turning up every week and putting in the shifts that they do."
This fixture is set to be the last 2nd XV fixture of the year for Sandown & Shanklin. It has been a big improvement from the team this year, with team playing most of their fixtures in the year and providing a consistent group of players at training and matches.
"We can't rest on our laurels. 2018 has been great, but we want the Hurricanes 2nd XV to be the best 2nd XV team on the island and in the county. That won't happen overnight, but at least we have started..."
