Match Report
Sawston v Wendons Ambo
5th January 2019

Well, the first game of 2019.With 2018 full of improved play but not as yet supported with a win. However there was a good turnout
by the lads and good to see Tom G, Ben , Kevin J ,Toby and Wayne back on the pitch.
Early pressure was put on Wendons and as a result Tom G went over for a try and was converted by Mark .
Score 7 – 0 Sawston
We have been here before with good starts so nobody was getting carried away and rightly so because Wendons came back with a try and conversion making the score 7 each
Score 7 – 7
Ben looked lively making some great tackles and was winning the ball in contact. His hard work was rewarded with a try and again was converted by Mark
14- 7 Sawston.
“Mark was kicking well but he did suffer from a short-term identity crisis when he thought he was Jonny Wilkinson and tried to drop goal from the half way line”
Wendons were fighting hard and still well in the game but Sawston defended well a fought the pressure off. Toby made a good run and was tap tackled only yards before the try line. However, the ground gained resulted in another try scored by the evergreen Sean.
19 – 7 Sawston
We now had a bit of daylight and Sawston started to believe that they could perhaps win.
Ben, still lively scored yet again and Mark not un nerved by his Jonny Wilkinson schizophrenia converted.
26-7 Sawston.
Sean ,thinking he was 20 years younger scored again and Jonny Wilk converted.
33- 7 Sawston
Half Time
Sawston ,now definitely feeling a first win was on the cards scored yet again and again it was Ben who did the deed. Jonny Wilk did not convert
Score 38-7 Sawston
Cometh the moment cometh the Man. Dims making a run dodged two tackles and just about made it the line for his first try for the club. To say he was delighted would be an understatement and my sympathies go to his family because there will be no other conversation for a few weeks possibly years. Sorry forgot to mention Jonny Wilk who converted.
Score 45-7 Sawston
Wendons still battered away at Sawston and deservedly ran over two more tries plus conversions
Score 45-19 Sawston
With the game well won Sawston kept up the pressure and Will finally got the ball down for a try with Jonny Wilk converting. Ben in the final seconds scored his 4th try JW again converted
Final score 59-19 to Sawston

Mentions.
It was a close-run thing for Man of the Match with a number of players in the running. It was however Tom G who got the nod. Bens efforts went against him as 2 tries is considered flash ,3 tries fkg flash and 4 tries – well that’s just wrong.
Dims for doing a football like celebration after his try. Finable offence if ever there was one.
Kevin Jarvis (who wasn’t well) on his knees and throwing up like a good un and then his Mark Jarvis tippy Toeing on to the pitch to dilute the spew withy water
Great to see Colin (Baldy) Hall at the game

Great effort lads you deserved it.
