Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby, is delighted to announce that the Host Club, for their 2015 Festival shall be – Kinloss Eagles - at the Kinloss Barracks. The Announcement was made by SGO President – Dave McDonald – at the SRU President’s Roadshow which took place at the Home of Aberdeen Grammar Rugby. Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Capt Stephen Smith addressed all present and extended a warm welcome to next year’s Festival. The Official Launch of the Festival, shall take place in a couple of months.

The Festival shall take place on Saturday 18th July, 2015….and all Golden Oldies Teams…..Individuals or Groups of Players, shall be most welcome. However, because of the expected demand …..it is advisable to Register your interest in participation at – goldiesrugby@gmail.com. A Festival of Rugby is planned with Youth and Women’s Rugby and surprise Demonstration Games….

Whilst adhering to the IRB Laws, Golden Oldies Rugby has some variations –
 There is Unlimited Substitution
 Games are played over shorter time periods
 Over aggressive Play is NOT condoned
 Golden Oldies play in ‘ Festivals ’ not ‘ Tournaments ’
 Age is shown by the colour of shorts Players wear……over 60’s cannot be Tackled
 Golden Oldies Rugby is played in the Ethos of – Fun, Friendship and Fraternity

Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby President – Dave McDonald stated -
“ I’m sure that next year’s Festival will be one of our Best…and that the Players and Supporters shall have a great, and memorable, experience. Sufficient Pitches and Changing Facilities….and an Indoor Swimming Pool adjacent to the main Pitch, along with possible inexpensive Accommodation make this venue ideal…..as does the NAFFI Beer Prices !! I’m also delighted that the Local Organising Committee intend widening the scope of the Festival, to create a Community Event, as the culmination of the Kinloss Rugby Club’s 75th Anniversary Celebrations ”

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee – Captain Stephen Smith added –
“ It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to organise and host such a prestigious event, which we embrace whole heartedly. Kinloss Eagles RFC celebrates its 75th anniversary this season, born to allow RAF personnel to play the game they love – Rugby. Handed over to 39 Engineer Regiment in 2012 it still follows the same guide lines today, of fun, friendship and rugby. We welcome all teams, groups and individuals to the Festival and hope they enjoy themselves as much as we plan to.”
