I am delighted to inform you that although we are only about 11 weeks away from our 7th Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby Festival, being held at Kinloss Eagles RFC on 18th July, work has been going on to select a Venue for our 2016 Festival…….and our 8th Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby Festival, Festival shall take place at Strathmore RFC. The actual date has still to be finalised but shall be late Spring / early Summer, 2016.

Brechin BRUCE were originally hoping to Host our Festival, but due to various reasons, they shall be jointly organising it now, with Strathmore. A Meeting was held at Strathmore RFC on Saturday 25th April at which both Host Clubs were present, along with Scottish Golden Oldies President – Dave McDonald; SGO Vice President – David Carnegie ( Montrose ) and Katie Barnett – SGO Secretary. Local SGO Executive Committee Member – Neil Leitch ( Mackie MAMMOTHS ) was unable to attend due to other Rugby commitments.

The 2016 Festival shall have its Official Launch in the Autumn…..but as places are limited to two Pitches, although a third may become available, if you wish to Register an interest, please e – mail – goldiesrugby@gmail.com....to avoid disappointment !

Bob Baldie ( Strathmore President ) stated –
“ Strathmore RFC are delighted to team up with The BRUCE to host the 2016 Scottish Golden Oldies Festival and we intend it to be a showcase event for our new Clubhouse changing facilities. We are delighted and enthused to be celebrating this with the Golden Oldies whose passion and philosophy we are trying to imbed into our Club ethos "

Gary Robertson ( Brechin BRUCE ) added –
“ Brechin BRUCE are delighted to be a part of this joint venture with our friends and neighbours Strathmore Rugby Club, in holding the 2016 Golden Oldies Rugby Festival. With our two Clubs behind this Event it is hoped that we can put on a Festival, worthy of such a fabulous honour of being chosen as Hosts and continue in the ethos of Golden Oldies, in Fun, Friendship and Fraternity.”
