With last week's terrific performance in the league opener against Old Aylestone Reserves for confidence, Scraptoft United wanted to put in a performance of merit against the much fancied Studs side who many have pointed to as the early front runners for the Division 2 title.

Scraptoft were without last weeks no.1 Matty Holdom, so James Hayes came into the 11 as the only change for Adam Halford's team.

Jarrod Brown was also missing, but Danny Siddons had shook off a knee problem to be back in contention with the returning Lovelle Knox joining Manny Bains on the bench.

A very tight affair during the first period, with Scraptoft just shading it, eventually getting the breakthrough, some good build up in midfield got the ball out to Joe Tailby, who found George Smith who side stepped his man and squared to Kyle Nichols just inside the box, who struck first time into the roof of the net. The midfielder adding to his man of the match performance last week with his 2nd goal in as many games.

The game was on a knife's edge from there on in, with both teams having plenty of chances. But it would be Scraptoft who would edge it, going 2nd in the league behind Fleckney Reserves on goal difference.

Adam Halford spoke positively of his teams performance,

'' Today was a very close game, although we were largely on top. We know Studs are going to be up the top come the end of the season, but to grind out a win in such a tight, intense game shows the quality we have in the side.''

Halford also spoke of his delight at the hard work and graft that went into the win, in particular the side's clean sheet,

''Was an awesome performance from the lads, everyone grafted, George ran himself ragged, so much so he struggled to walk off the pitch! We have to carry on the performances and keep morale high, hopefully wins will bring confidence and a real buzz to the team, long may it continue.''
