The final score of eight tries to one in favour of Kesteven did not reflect the general run of play in this fixture against the Greens old foes.
Although the Greens gave away 2 tries in each of the 15 minutes sessions the team showed that they were willing to get stuck in even when the score was against them. The backs, Harry Cooke, Ben Botham and Euan Johns ran hard at their opposite numbers putting them under pressure. Tackling was improved with some crackers from Corey Jones on the Wing and Harry Cooke. It was Euan Johns who scored the only Scunthorpe try following his excellent support of a run by Ben.
In the forwards Cameron Ayres was tireless and Matthew Scott at Second Row, playing his first game for the Greens showed great promise for the future.
Two ‘Man of the Match’ were awarded – one to Cameron Ayres and the other to Ben Botham
