The U7s travelled to Market Rasen for their first game of 2013 and came away with the spoils with coincidentally, exactly the same result as earlier on in the season when we played them at our place. 9 games were played in total in the four-a-side format. We won 5, drew 2 and lost 2. The numbers of players we had was excellent, 16 in total, meaning we split into 3 teams who each played 3 games each and rolling subs were constantly in operation. Credit to Rasen as they had good numbers as well and all games were close. It was a complete try fest as we scored an incredible 147 tries and conceded 134. I think both teams might need to do a bit of work on tagging but the running, stepping and passing was breath taking!
Three lads made their debuts for the club – Jonas Richards, Jack Barnard and Ollie Drewery. All of them scored and made some tags which was a great effort in their first ever game of rugby.
Team 1 (Won 2 and drew 1) captained by Thomas Giles included Jonas Richards, Thomas Batley, Ollie Chant and Coel Gosling.
Team 2 (Won 2 and drew 1) captained by George Atkinson included Jack Barnard, Owen Fell, Liam Barrett and Janek Szynal.
Team 3 (Won 1 and lost 2) captained by Dan Pooley included Ollie Drewery, Joseph Marritt, Jack Bayley, Reggie Oldridge and Dylan Penn.
Player and tagger of the week was Reggie Oldridge for his best game of the season so far. Our next game is against Hull Ionians at home this Sunday which will be a good tough workout - weather permiting!
