A beautiful sunny but breezy Remembrance morning saw the Stormers play host to a depleted Goole side so with players on loan to Goole it was agreed to play on a narrower pitch and 12 a-side.

Scunthorpe kick was caught by Goole but Lythgoe was in quickly with a tackle allowing the Stormers to win the ball back, Toyne danced his way through the defence before passing over to Osborn and then to Barratt who scored his first try, which was converted. Goole were quick to reply picking up a loose ball to run in a replying try. At the restart Goole caught Scunthorpes kick but once again the Stormers piled in quickly and stole the ball with the ball being passed from Conroy through the team to Osborn who on his return from injury ran over a try and the conversion also went over. Gooles kick was caught by Toyne who ran ½ the pitch passing to Hall who was tackled the pass out was intercepted by Goole who took the ball into touch, form the lineout Barretts throw went to Lythgoe then Murray who passed over to Toyne who ran the ball safely over the try line to score. Goole were quick to respond from a scrum and took advantage in a gap to once again score a quick try. Scunthorpes kick was caught by Goole who replied with a kick that went to touch Barretts throw from the lineout went to the hands of Lythgoe who with the support of the forwards drove the ball forward before Horwell passed out to Stevens and then Horton who was then tackled. Goole took the ball out of a scrum but were tackled into touch. Barretts throw was caught by Hall who passed out to Horwell, Stevens and Toyne whose loose pass went into touch, Goole replied from the lineout by passing across the pitch before teamwork by Hall and Lythgoe allowed Hall to steal the ball. From a scrum Goole gained possession but tackles by Horton, Osborn and Stevens say Conroy gain possession, a penalty awarded to Scunthorpe saw a quick tap and go by Conroy running through the Goole defence passing to Horwell and then Murray who powered his way over the try line to score. Gooles kick was caught by Barrett who was tackled but passed the ball out to Conroy who opted to kick the ball and Goole took it in to touch. Barretts throw went to the hands of Hall who passed back to Barrett who once again was tackled passing the ball to Conroy then Stevens and Toyne who took the ball over to score. Gooles kick went to touch the ball was thrown in by Barrett to Lythgoe then passed to Conroy and Stevens. A scrum awarded to Goole saw the strength of the Scunthorpe pack push them back allowing Horwell to pick up the ball and pass out to Conroy who was quickly tackled and a ruck formed before a knock on saw a scrum awarded to Goole. Once again, the forwards strength dominated and Conroy dived onto the loose ball, eventually the ball came into the hands of Lythgoe who took it over the line to score a try with the conversion also going over.

Half Time Score 38-14

Goole came back fighting in the second half with a scrum awarded to them they took the ball out and made ground until a tackle by Parkin allowed Horwell to take possession of the ball passing to Toyne whose misjudged pass went into touch. The lineout went to Goole and Toyne came in with a tackle but the loose ball was picked up by the speedy Goole player who despite being chased by Murray and Osborn managed to outpace them to take the ball over for a try. Scunthorpes kick was caught by Goole who were tackled forming a maul and a penalty was awarded to Goole but superb tackles by Dawson and Bradwell saw a penalty being awarded to Scunthorpe who kicked to touch (effortlessly caught by Dawn). Barretts lineout throw was caught by Dawson and protected until it was passed back to Barrett then across the pitch through the hands of Stevens, Conroy and Toyne before finding Parkin who took the ball across the line only to have a foot into touch. Gooles kick was caught by Osborn and went through the hands of Murray, Stevens, Osborn and Dawson who went down in a tackle in the ruck that formed Goole had hands in so a penalty was awarded to Scunthorpe before they made a mistake giving Goole possession and despite strong tackles by Murray, Osborn and Dawson they held onto the ball choosing to kick to touch. From the lineout Hall came in quickly to tackle the ball carrier followed by Stevens and Toyne picked up the loose ball passing over to Dawson. From a scrum awarded to Goole the power of the Scunthorpe forwards saw them win the ball and Horwell ran in a try. Gooles kick was caught by Dawson and the ball passed through the hands of Barrett, Horwell, Stevens and Ingram who was forced into touch, from the lineout Goole passed across the pitch before knocking the ball on. The scrum was awarded to Scunthorpe with Horwell taking the ball out and passing to Stevens, Toyne and Parkin who was tackled, Osborn collected the ball and took the final few steps over the try line. Gooles kick was caught by Hall who was tackled and from a resulting scrum Scunthorpe won the ball and kicked into Gooles hands who lost the ball when Barrett came in with a tackle before another scrum was awarded this time Goole came out with the ball but were tackled into touch by Horwell the lineout saw Barretts throw caught by Bradwell and then go through the hands of Conroy, Stevens and Murray. With a penalty awarded to Goole they took full advantage and nipped through a gap to score a try. Play continued for the final few minutes but no more scores were added to the board.

Final Score: Scunthorpe 50 – Goole 28
