A storming game
Play started with North Hykehams kick being caught and Craze making ground before being tackled but his pass to Barratt ensured that the ball kept heading in the right direction North Hykeham came in with a tackle but Osborn, Hall and Horton were in and over the ball quickly to retain possession, Scunthorpe kept possession from a scrum and made ground before North Hykeham stole the ball and made ground only to be stopped by a tackle from Kelly in only his second game, ensured that Scunthorpe regained possession, before from a kicked ball which Craze caught and ran over the line scoring the opening try of the game. From the restart Scunthorpe dominated with their strength and teamwork, from a North Hykeham lineout Scunthorpe managed to steal the ball with Barrett picking up a loose ball before being tackled from the ruck Horwell got the ball out to Conroy, briefly North Hykeham had possession but were stopped in their tracks by a tackle from Osborn allowing Scunthorpe to steal the ball and then pass back to Osborn who ran in his first try of the day, with the conversion also going over. Barrett caught North Hykehams kick and worked hard to make ground before the ball was lost to North Hykeham with Dawson coming in with a tackle they were unable to make anything of it, once again North Hykeham had the throw in for a lineout but the speed of the Scunthorpe forwards ensured that the ball was returned to Scunthorpe with Murray, Craze and Barrett all making huge strides towards the try line, from a scrum the ball went out to Horwell who dummied and went forward, Barrett then passed to Murray who took the final few steps over the try line to score. North Hykehams kick was this time collected by Bradwell who made some ground before being tackled. Once again North Hykehams lineout throw saw Hall come in quickly with a tackle although they managed to keep possession until a kick was made by them and chased quickly by Horwell tackling twice to ensure that Scunthorpe regained possession passing across the pitch to Kelly who ran up the wing to score his first try. In the last few minutes of the first half the Scunthorpe worked well as a team with Bradwell catching the kick before being tackled Craze picked up the ball before being tackled the ball went to Horton before being passed across the pitch to Barratt who made ground the ball then came back across the pitch through the hands of Craze, Kelly back to Craze and finally Osborn who forced his way over the try line to score.

The second half started with Scunthorpe kicking the ball but being tackled by Barratt, following a knock on a scrum was awarded to North Hykeham who managed to pass the ball out to the wing where they made ground before being slowed by tackles from Parkin and Osborn before Barratt came across to complete the trio of tackles the ball eventually went into touch and the practise that Scunthorpe have put into lineouts showed as the ball went quickly from the hands of Barrett to Lythgoe then Conroy and Murray who made ground before being tackled and laying the ball back for Lythgoe to pick up. From a scrum the power of the pack was evident as Scunthorpe won the ball against the put in with Conroy and Horton making the most of possession and making ground, play continued until Scunthorpe won another scrum against the head Barrett took the ball forward making ground until he passed the ball behind him into the hands of Osborn who took the final few steps over the line to score his hat-trick try of the game. North Hykehams kick resulted in a knock on by Scunthorpe from the scrum North Hykeham tried to go down the blindside but were stopped by a tackle the ball swapped sides several times before once again from a scrum Scunthorpe dominated the play Osborn picked up the ball from the back passing between Conroy and Osborn ensured that the ball made ground before being lost and North Hykeham briefly gaining possession but Scunthorpe played as a team and through a series of rucks and mauls stole the ball back and with Parkin in support Horwell made it over the line. Scunthorpe dominance of the game continued from a lineout with Barrett passing to Hall then to Conroy who kicked with Osborn chasing, Craze collected the ball passing to Barrett who made most of the ground before passing to Conroy and then to Stevens who took the ball over the try line. The last few minutes of the game saw Scunthorpe making ground through the teamwork that had been displayed all morning but North Hykeham refuse to give up and despite the ball swapping sides a few times no further scores were added to the sheet.
