Wortley match report

The Scunthorpe under 10 mini rugby took a squad to a three way game against Wortley and Glossop this weekend where Scunthorpe shone brightly with their display of excellent passing and rucking skills.
The first game against Glossop was the hardest however we dominated the entire match maintaining possession of the ball from the off. Hart bagged a couple of trys along with Barley and Thornton before half time then Carter (2) Proctor, Thornton and Clarke bagged us some more in the second.
The second game against Wortley was much of the same with Barley starting off with a good run down the wing popping the ball to Bycroft to get the score. Wortley sneaked through to score one of their own but some great rucking from Hatfield and Wilkinson gave us possession and get the ball to Conroy for another which was quickly followed by a flurry of trys from Clarke, Barley and Proctor.
The lads worked hard keeping the ball and maintaining the pressure on Wortley who just couldn’t cope with the onslaught of tackles causing them to make mistakes and drop the ball for Conroy to scoop up and grab another try. Some great passing between Hatfield to Taylor and out to Proctor who had a good run to score followed quickly by the last try of the match from Hart. The end result a sensational 14-2 win just showed how determined and focused the lads were today.
The lads worked really well and dominated both games. Next week will be a test of their skills when they play Hull Ionians at home.
