Seaford 2nds entertained Crowhurst Park 2nds at the Salts ground determined to improve on their early season defeat at Crowhurst. Skipper Alan Cooper again called right and had no hesitation in batting on a good looking track. The openers started slowly but were soon both dismissed bringing together in form Jon Sapwell (101) and Dean Cooper who gradually rebuilt the innings. Curtis Cooper then joined Sapwell to again kick the score on to 110 for 4 after 36 overs setting up the final 17 overs for skipper Alan Cooper (33 no) to join Sapwell for a 92 partnership to gain maximum batting points. 2 late wickets left Seaford completing their 53 overs on 210 for 7.

They were looking to gain early wickets to put pressure on Crowhurst but they got off to flying start with 24 off the first 5 wayward overs. Then 2 quick wickets restored Seafords hopes and a freak dismissal of J. Message being caught by Alan Cooper off the boot of 1st slip Peter Grey left Crowhurst on 41 for 3. A superb one handed catch by Jon Sapwell at gully saw Crowhurst on 47 for 4 and Seaford were on the ascendancy. A solid partnership of 92 between Mick Legg(41) and Cameron Flanagan (61) restored the match position but then 2 wickets in 2 balls by change bowler Curtis Cooper again turned the match in Seafords favour. The match was evenly poised with Crowhurst on 156 for 6 after 31 overs leaving them 16 overs to score 55 and Seaford needing 4 wickets. 2 more wickets fell but a partnership between J. Peterson (30 no ) and J. Grainge (18no) saw Crowhurst cross the line with 3 overs to spare.

A good game of cricket with both sides showing their will to win and if Seaford had had more variation in their bowling attack could have gained the victory, but 14 points gained from a solid performance. Next week they travel to Lewes Priory who are bottom of the league with no wins so far.
