Inspired Isaac foiled by rain
Buxted Park 2s 141 drew with Seaford 2s 113-4
Seaford travelled to Buxted Park in sunny conditions, on winning the toss Seaford elected to have a bowl and try an force the win they desperately need to improve their current league position. An early flurry of runs was then bought under control as Robards and Smith kept tight rein on the top order, a wicket a piece for these two saw Buxted reach 58 for the loss of two wickets, Isaac Bashir was then introduced to the attack and soon started causing the Buxted batsmen problems on a challenging batting wicket, once Isaac claimed his first wicket they then continued to fall to his impressive off spin, accuracy and the occasional bounce meant no one felt at home against him, Smiths fine spell came to an end with the introduction of Mitch Ellingham's seam up, this continued to make runs hard to come by, two wickets for Mitch and a final impressive haul of six wickets for Isaac Bashir meant Seaford backed up by some quality catching had got Buxted out for 141, a total we fancied chasing down in 56 Overs.
Unfortunately the weather intervened in the third over of the run chase, play was halted for a long period leaving Seaford still with the task of chasing down 141 for some reason, they now only had 26 overs to do this, with the ball not coming onto the bat and outfield damp from the rain Seaford never really kept up with the run rate, Jon Reynolds 41 kept scoreboard ticking over but Seaford were always behind the run rate, some impressive late hitting from Deniol Cummins 29* got them near an extra bonus point but not quite close enough.
Real shame today as Seaford played some of their best cricket for some time and victory was well in their grasp at half way stage, Ce la vie, thanks to Buxted for being keen to get some sort of game in in what were difficult conditions, Seaford suitably frustrated by playing conditions.
