They are playing a cup match against Lansdowne. The location is the all-weather surface pitch which is at the back of the Aviva Stadium (or as we know it Lansdowne Road!). It is an early start and we are meeting in Tesco's car park at 0815hrs for 0830hrs departure.
It is vital that all parents meet here - last week, we did not know until arrival at Greystones who was actually available and therefore, we were not certain of the team. This is not an option this week-end.
The match will start at 0930hrs but we want to arrive there at 0900hrs to allow the lads to get used to the different surface. It will also be critical that we go through the routine of the stretches and warm-ups, particularly for this type of surface. The usual boots are OK but make sure that the studs are safe and not sharp.
This is quarter cup final match and it will be a tough encounter. It would be great to have as many parents as possible there to cheer the lads on.
In terms of parking, the advice from Lansdowne is that there are 2 main areas for parking
1. Underground parking under the Lansdowne clubhouse
2. Parking in Marion College (beside ground). Car park is half way up avenue on LHS (do not park anywhere else in Marion or you will get clamped)
The second option will probably be the better.
The B's will have a friendly match against the Seapoint U14s at 1100hrs. Please have the lads pitch side @ 1045hrs for the warm-ups etc. Again, the coaches emphasise to the parents that the efforts of the B's deserves strong praise from all - they have come against strong teams and the results do not reflect the effort and commitment displayed by the lads. They will get the rub of the green shortly! This match while against a higher age, will allow time for a competitive test in a friendly setting! The opposition will be adjusted to reflect the levels.
In both matches, it is vital that we have everybody available. If your son is not, then please email me at my gmail account or text me @ 087 9957 845.
