Fellow Golfer,

I am delighted to invite you to compete in the Brent Pope Rugby Legends Golf Classic on May 11th 2012 in the beautiful Seapoint Golf Links in Termonfeckin, Drogheda.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Brent Pope Rugby Legends Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Ireland. Last year I decided to set up the Foundation as I wanted to unite rugby people in an effort to give something positive back and change lives for the better.

In June of last year, I visited Zambia with former international rugby player Malcolm O’Kelly. We partnered with families to build homes and coached local kids in the finer art of Irish rugby. Zambia is a beautiful country, where communities are full of friendly faces and extreme humility, yet those same smiling faces and proud communities are experiencing hardships we cannot imagine.

A documentary on this trip can be seen here: http://vimeo.com/31876044.

This June I am going back along with Irish rugby greats such as Bernard Jackman and Paddy Johns and volunteer members of the rugby loving public in what will be an experience that will change their outlook on life forever.

We are asking YOU to sign up to this Golf Classic and support this trip. It’s an opportunity to have fun on the golf course and help make a difference to a family’s life in Zambia. I know times are hard in this country, but I believe the benefits are huge and would really make such a difference.

There will be a 4 ball competition with 4 people on each team. In addition to prizes for the first 5 teams we will also have prizes for the longest drive and nearest pin.

The cost of team entry is €300, which includes 18 holes of competition golf, a meal and great prizes.

We do hope you will be able to join us on the day. Places, however, are at a premium and applications will be dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis, so we strongly advise that you call Habitat for Humanity at 01 5310033 and speak with Colin Skehan at your earliest convenience in order to avoid disappointment.

I look forward to welcoming you at Seapoint on Friday 11th May.

Yours sincerely,

Brent Pope.
