Olly Hamilton talks us through his time as a junior and his return at 17...

- Olly Hamilton

This article focuses on Olly Hamilton's return to rugby and the benefits he has found, both on the pitch and off it.

I started playing rugby with Seaton Carew Rugby Club from the age of six until leaving at fifteen, and when I turned 17 I wasn't given a happy birthday from my old coach billy it was something a lot different, an invitation to come back down to training, I was welcomed into the senior team and have progressed enough to play second and first team rugby.

it has taught me about discipline, persistence and responsibilities and maybe more importantly how to be a good loser - despite a brief period of a good winning run led from Tank ,Billy, Joe and Driver in the under 13-14 season.

When I returned to seaton I felt as though I had never left, we were still getting beat every week, the same great people were there and billy was somehow still playing competitively.

In my opinion the best thing about Seaton is the people, playing senior level was quite a nerve wracking thing but although most the lads give us stick (talking about trainy here) they have helped me progress on the pitch giving me support in senior level rugby as well as off the pitch teaching me how to enjoy the social side of rugby. With a mix of ages and personalities I feel as though every member of the team (including trainy) has managed to help me along the way in my first season of rugby.

As the rise of the numbers in the team and people of my own age I look forward to the season in DN3 and hopefully carrying on the momentum gained from pre season and gaining more experience and hopefully some wins under my belt. I also look forward to the social side of the team and the numerous amount of events that are happening off the pitch, events like 10 miles 10 pints, the reunion day, and the mystery tour, which I've just managed to persuade my mam to let me go on. Everything is looking good for the club at the moment and I'm looking forward to our first cup game against rivals B.B.O.B 26th of august one for the diary!
