Seaton traveled to Seaham in DN3 this weekend picking up a try bonus point win

SEATON CAREW's previously postponed Durham Northumberland Division Two clash at Seaham finally took place on Saturday with the visitors running out eventual 61-12 winners. The muddy conditions did not appear to be conducive to fast open rugby but to the credit of both sides they gave it a go. Seaton were the first to benefit. The ball was moved through many hands before number 8 Murry Stockdale crossed the line. Fly-half Cameron Lithgo slotted the conversion and a minute later added a midfield penalty. From the restart, Seaton ran the ball from their twenty-two and winger Jack Lithgo evaded a couple of defenders to sprint in for try number two. Having then been awarded a five metre scrum, the direction of play was cleverly switched and once again Stockdale was there in support to provide the finish. Lithgo added the conversion to take a 22 point lead after only ten minutes had been played. The next ten minutes, however, belonged to Seaham and, with Seaton's defence in disarray, they chalked up two tries and a conversion to seemingly haul themselves back into contention but it was not to be. Seaton ran in three quick fire tries before half time. Centre Tom Addison carved through the defence for the first and then hacked on a loose ball for the second. Full-back Harry Hazell finished a fine handling move for the third to take a 37-12 advantage into the interval.

Whilst the scoreline might suggest otherwise, Seaham were always an integral part of this game but were probably guilty of too many errors and Seaton made them pay with a further four tries. A quickly taken tap penalty was fed out to centre Martin Lithgo who touched down close to the posts and replacement full-back Stuart McLennan broke from the half-way line scoring at the base of the post despite a last ditch tackle from his opposite number. Hazell, last man in a sweeping backs' move, sprinted around and behind the defence to pick up his second of the day and lock Sean McBean's giant stride saw him lope over from thirty metres out. Lithgo added two coversions.
