Seaton 2nd XV claimed their maiden win of 2018 with a strong victory against Stocktonians, Seaton welcomed back 2nd XV Captain Shaun Mcbean, Wayne Wild, Graham Wilson and Joe Aird in the pack who had all been missing of late due to injuries in the 1st XV or injuries of their own,

Seaton started brightly working the ball through the hands and asking questions of an energetic Stockton defence. Stockton where the first team to register the first points as make shift blindside Graham Wilson was deemed to have infringed at the ruck by Referee Mark Peart. The Stockton kicker taking full advantage knocking 3 points over from in front of the posts, (0-3).

Seaton began an upward trajectory with the back line being marshalled by a virgin in the 9 jersey Cameron Lithgo dictating play with some sharp pops from the base and link play with Tom Addison. It was Stuart Mclennan who took advantage of a deft offload to break through and wrong foot the Stockton full back to register the first touchdown of the game. Connor Storey adding the simplest of 2 points from the tee.

Seaton then added another quickly after following a break down the right wing by Harry Hazell with Tom Addison on hand to touch down following a fumbled pass from the winger, Connor Storey again adding the additional points on offer. (14-3)

Stockton responded with a try of their own through a series of short drives which saw one of the forwards touch down to the left hand side of the sticks. (14-8)

Stockton where reduced to 14 with a player shown a yellow card following being march back by Mark Peart.

Seaton took full advantage of the numerical count with wing Jack Lithgo racing in following some neat work from the midfield. With Connor Storey knocking the kick over.(21-8)

Half time saw a raft of changes from the hosts and a return to action for Josh ‘The Bosh’ Hepenstall on the left wing.

Seaton adjusted well to the changes a continued to scrum well and put the Stockton back line under pressure as result from it. Powerful carries from Wayne Wild, Shaun Mcbean and Lee Burdon kept the Seaton momentum going and where eventually awarded through a Wayne Wild try where he bumped off a handful of defenders to score. Connor Storey adding the extras from the tee to continue his immaculate kicking display.

Both sides where down to 14 with Adam Train being on the receiving end of a yellow card following a dust up with the young Stockton flanker who received his second yellow and the mandatory red which followed.

A powerful shoving from props Ryan Johnstone and Paddy Frain laid the platform for loose forward Sean Smyth to pick and drive towards the line only to find a line of Stocktonians in his way. Ste Wilson picked and went from the resulting ruck barrelling his way over for a try on his way to joining Benji’s 10 club for the day.

Stockton returned with a 2nd consolation try late on, but it was a game too far for the youthful Stockton side.
