The majority of this Durham Northumberland Two clash was played out in home territory but Seaton stuck manfully to their defensive task for the first twenty five minutes. On the rare occasions that they broke clear an infringement of some sort or other ruined the move. Blyth, who were intent on playing fast expansive rugby, had already crossed the line for two disallowed tries and had been denied on several other occasions by centre Matt Richardson's covering tackles. There was, therefore, an air of inevitability about their first score. Taking good line-out ball within Seaton's twenty-two the ball was moved out wide for a twenty eighth minute converted try. The visitors added two further converted tries to take a 21-0 advantage into the interval. Things then went from bad to worse and, within the first minute of the re-start, Blyth ran the ball straight through some poor tackling to touch down for an unconverted try. From then on, Seaton had more of the game though their set piece work was disintegrating. Lock Peter Storey was held up over the line and full-back Lewis Humble made some fine breaks. It was Humble's last gasp tackle that saved what looked like would be a certain try in the corner but no one could stop Blyth's winger, who turned defence into attack and ran nearly the full length of the pitch for try number five. As the clock ran down Humble topped off a man of the match performance with a solo try down the left wing.
