Sedgley Tigers U7s played two games against the Tarleton Terriers U7s squad and came away winning both games in what was probably their best performance of the season so far.
The scores were 8 – 4 and 9 – 5.
The team was strengthened by the return of the ‘two Noah’s’ and with Will appointed captain following his tremendous performance last week at Vale, really began to work together. The dry, sunny conditions and wide pitch were ideal for running rugby and both sides scored some great tries.
The discipline this week was greatly improved in all areas as we quickly ran back into position for each restart, passed the ball properly (no ‘basketball’ passing) and best of all, no arguing! The tough training session of last Wednesday handed out by Chris Leader was obviously still fresh in their minds!
Noah N was unlucky not to be awarded a try after collecting the ball near his own try line and then running the full length of the pitch (still not sure why it wasn’t allowed, but the referee had an excellent game and allowed the game to flow very well). Jack had a great run down the left wing only to be tackled just short of the line – that first try really is eluding him! Harry also made a good break from the restart and was just tagged near the line. Joe as ever was sidestepping the opposition into a spin and scored a magnificent try. Codie and Fin both covered the pitch well and made life very difficult for the opposition all game, and Will put in another consistently good performance. The tackle of the match goes to Noah P who really spotted his man and stopped the Tarleton move totally in its tracks.
Yes, the two coaches were smiling after the game – despite not getting to the bar for a celebratory pint afterwards.
No game this Sunday but as Dave mentioned in the post match team talk ‘remember to carry your Easter egg in TWO hands’.
