A GREAT GAME OF RUGBY CAPPED OFF BY A GREAT TIGERS WIN
It is always a shame in a tight open game like today when someone has to lose but Rosslyn Park travel back to London with just the two points.
SEDGLEY PARK 30 (4)
ROSSLYN PARK 29 (2)
Tigers with a heavy draft of second team players in the squad showed the potential and the signs of things to come in a first half display of glorious running rugby more than the match of today’s visitors.
A good opening 10 minutes for Rosslyn Park had most thinking this would be a big score for the visitor’s but a gutsy honest performance by the Tigers put paid to that notion.
With a 20 -10 halftime lead Tigers looked confident and took to the field for the second forty running up the hill and continuing where they left off on the front foot.
A brilliant try for Simon Parrot made it 27 -10 and the game looked over.
However Rosslyn Park are not a top of the table side for nothing and soon got good quick ball and had Tigers chasing shadows. Ross Laidlaw had a great game directing play as the visitors ran in two tries to set up this nail-biting finish.
Fortunately a penalty on 63 minutes by Matt Riley would stubbornly remain to be the all-important difference and with it a much appreciate home win to cheer up the home faithful.
Tries for Sedgley from Fergus Owens, Matt Riley, and Simon Parrott all converted with three penalties for Matt Riley.
With Rosslyn Park tries coming from Luke Campbell, Mike Baxter, and two for Joe Trayfoot, with Ross Laidlaw kicking two conversions and one penalty.
The main match report will follow later
Until then enjoy your weekend.
All the best
