What an end to the season, you must be feeling a bit down?
Firstly ST can I start of by congratulating Preston Grasshoppers on winning the league last weekend. It has been a very tough battle all season and their good form has managed to grab them the league over the last 4 weeks.
So this weekend you rap up your league fixtures at home to Fylde. You will be out for revenge after a shock defeat 4 weeks ago?
Very much so we are proud of ourselves this season in our record against each club and Fylde are the only team we haven't got a better record in victories.
A win this weekend will put that right. We are also looking to build some confidence and form ahead of the cup final in two week’s time. With it being the last home game of the season we will be looking to sign off with an excellent performance!
Any team news for us this week?
Good news is that Johnny Lamprey came through 30 minutes at the weekend so he will be putting his hand up for selection.
Lee Bambie is struggling with a hamstring injury that might keep him out. Hopefully we may get a player or two back from the 1st XV depending on players recovering from injury.
You are on a dismal run of four league game without a win. What do you think has been the problem?
Your right our form has been very poor and the 2nds have never lost four games on the bounce. All the team are very disappointed with our form.
The Macc defeat hurt and after the game a few harsh words were said to the team. There have been a disappointing number of players down at training which hasn't allowed for preparation for games in the way we would have liked. Injures in both the 1st XV and 2nd XV squads has contributed to us fielding different half backs and inexperienced teams at times.
So do Macc hold the advantage going into the cup final?
Not at all and I don't think either team has learnt much about each other from last week’s game. We know that our defence in the back line let us down in not only the Macc game but the last few games.
Our players are honest lads and will hold their hands up and work hard to improve that side of our game starting this week.
What do you consider to be your area of strength?
Well as Macc found out this weekend and every team throughout the season, the strength of our forwards. Week in and week out, the boys have dominated matches through excellent set pieces at the lineouts and scrums, quick clean ball for the backs and hard yards from our big ball carriers. The forwards were able to crawl the deficit to just 2 points at the weekend by scoring 3 unanswered tries in 10mins.
