Rossendale came a calling for the first warm up game of the season back on a sunny August evening when they gave the Young Tigers a lesson in hard fast aggressive rugby.
Although Tigers had a number of players on trial that night with a 34 man squad, it should not take away from a Rossendale team who have over a number of seasons being fine tuning a squad that is looking very good indeed. I think former Sedge Head Coach Tim Fourie now Head coach at Rossendale will be licking his lips in anticipation to add these boys to his senior squad.
However if Tigers could field their strongest team, and if Sale, Lancashire and in some cases the players respective schools would release players back to the Tigers SCs then it should make for a really entertaining game.
The Tigers SCs have ‘dogged’ their way through the season toughing out some big results that get lost in the final results.
Against top of the table Stockport on their own turf and playing with only 14 Tigers showed a will to battle against all odds and on a great deal of occasions this season have worn the Claret and Gold with pride.
The National Cup competition saw Tigers put out a very strong Yorkshire Cup winners Sheffield in the first round and were knocked out by a whisker by Westoe a very strong a more senior side, this after the Tigers SC pummelled their line for 20 minutes as Westoe hung on for dear life.
The will and the grit is there we just hope the numbers are good and we can add that extra something special that has been missing all season to give this a real good go.
The game kicks off at 14.00
Why not come down and support the boys in what should be a cracker of a Lancashire cup game.
All the best
