A Champagne Moment This Week!

Plenty to report this week regarding individual performances. The top six batsmen setting the platform for the bowlers to do their work. Boycott (according to Kev, don't know why he chose that name!) top scoring with 42 and Paul Dew (35), Kev Williams (25) and Tom Brennand (23) all making significant contributions. A reasonable total but could have been better if we had capitalised in the latter part of the innings.

The bowling and fielding is what is setting us apart this season and once again the strike bowling partnership of Matthews and McVey took 8 wickets between them, 5 for 26 and 3 for 18 respectively. Aided by the other three bowlers, Keith Dixon, Paul (Cherry Blossom) Dew and Tom (Bad Boy) Brennand. Not forgetting Matthew (Colly) Wright for his sensational catch which started the rot. Quite simply, a Champagne moment!

No doubt Kev will want me to mention his legside catch again, but where was Tracey when we needed her to capture the memories on film especially with such momentous occasions including both Dewy and Kev running three! Note to Health and Safety representative: Check we are fully equipped to cope with emergencies as a result of excess running!

4 Dropped catches in total (Foxy, Dewy, Dixy, Matty McVey) but none were easy although I am sure Foxy will disagree. Contenders piling up for performance over the year. Although Matthew Wright deservedly gets a mention, the Man of the Match award went to Jonny Matthews who took 5 wickets all with good balls!
