The first XV will continue to compete in Durham & Northumberland 3 (DN3) for the 2017/18. The RFU North have now confirmed the participating clubs as well as provisional fixtures.

Newton Aycliffe & Richmondshire have been promoted to DN2 whilst three teams; Blyth, South Shields & Seaton Carew have dropped down in the opposite direction. Furthermore, Hartlepool BBOB have decided to withdraw from the league leaving 12 clubs as follows:
