Solid comeback secures draw

by Bruce Walker

In difficult conditions, Selby fought back against a strong and bullish Hornsea side.

With the forwards on top, a fine move saw Wright meander into the corner for the first try of the day. Unfortunately the home side could not impose themselves and Hornsea managed to gain parity with the last play of the half.

As the home side continued to impress through the forwards, the backs were unable to convert this superiority with scores until Dallimore came up with the ball after hijacking the away full-back as he tried to clear his lines.

All told, a satisfactory performance with the forwards impressive throughout, however hopefully we can have a full compliment of players for the upcoming semifinal.

Man of the match went to Angus Hutton who eventually showed that he can take command, directing both forwards and backs and showing prowess in the tackle.

Selby 10 Hornsea 10
