Workmanlike performance sees off plucky Scarboro
With only 12 under 16's available, thanks go to Scarboro for providing stiff opposition in this fixture.
Supplemented by 5 under 15's, none of whom looked out of place, there was some sparkling rugby on show in the Spring sunshine.
Selby were fast out the blocks and some fine handling saw MoM Thacker dive over in the corner for the first of Selby's 6 tries. With kicker Dallimore suffering a serious knock, kicking duties were spread around the team with no-one appearing to match the bright sunshine. Next over was Wright to score his first of 3 as he scythed through the static visitors defence. As the forwards continued to impose themselves, Taylor with a fine dummy to confound the Scarboro defence managed to dive over and give Wright the simplest of conversions.
Half time 17-5
The second half began with the home side increasing their lead with another fine run from Wright scoring under the posts and converting. However it would be another 20 minutes before Selby were able to move the scoreboard on as Scarboro succeeded in repelling all Selby efforts. Another blistering run from Wright saw him score his third try and as the visitor wilted, Foster capped a fine game by ploughing straight through the Scarboro defence.
Man of the Match Thacker featured for both sides and deserved more than his single try, ably supported by Walker and Levett. Special thanks to all under 15 parents and players, with Stoker showing pace and power in his running; Foster, McCoy and Wright excelling in the scrum, and Harrison showing fine technique in the final 10 minutes.
